Feeding a growing world in the midst of climate change and loss of biodiversity is the very definition of a complex problem. Unfortunately we don’t have the luxury of evolutionary time to solve it. Every year, we lose 2.1 million hectares to deforestation for cattle raising – and it’s only getting worse. Baby formula shortages, tightening supply chains, drought, and global instability will only intensify the growing nutritional scarcity.

We simply need a new way to produce food. The Problem

Meat is the ultimate bioavailable dense nutrition for humans, yet land and sea animal agriculture contributes to a significant amount of global greenhouse (GHG) emissions. It’s not sustainable for humans or the environment. We need a more sustainable way to produce meat for a growing global population, using exponentially less land and water. Cultivated meat offers this promise. But in order to make it a reality, we need animal cells that grow quickly, at unprecedented scale, with cost effective inputs.
